Artist’s Note:
In this piece I reimagine Titian’s allegorical painting “The Three Ages of Man.”
I take the very serious theme of life’s stages and turn it into a whimsical game of elastic distortions, a kind of surreal cubism.
The figure on the left rests his hand on a blank scroll of unwritten poetry.
He is a poet-artist, lost in his inner world, oblivious to the flute playing of the mischievous orange meme perched on his knee.
The scroll may never be written.
All the human figures are sealed in their own isolated worlds, moving toward lethargy, while the only real emotion that breaks through belongs to the cartoon memes.
